Our Pain au Levain (sourdough) starter arrived in America from Ireland in 1915! It was carried by a young, 5th generation Irish baker who Kevin apprenticed under in the late 80's. This sweet mellow starter is more than 200 years old!
PRE-ORDER our fresh house made Pain au Levain for pick up at NOON on SATURDAYs.
Orders can be placed online, by calling the shop at 541-347-3300, or in our shop located in Old Town Bandon.
Orders MUST be in no later than the Wednesday prior to pick up date by 5:00 pm.
Ex. If you want an order for Saturday, May 2nd your order MUST be in no later than Wednesday, April 29th at 5:00 pm.
Any orders placed after Wednesday will be added on to the following week's pick up date.

Pain au Levain is thee classic sourdough bread. It is made by the fermentation of dough using naturally occurring lactobacilli and yeast. Sourdough bread has a more sour taste depending on the region its produced in, and better inherent keeping qualities than breads made with baker's yeast, due to the lactic acid produced by the lactobacilli.
